Access Control

Access controls are mechanisms that ensure access to a resource is restricted to appropriately authorised parties, and under what conditions.

Access controls provide the operational capability to manage access transactions.

Access controls may be comprised of specialised security systems and services, network protocols, algorithms, data standards, security policies and business processes.

Providing appropriate access controls is the responsibility of an Access Management capability.
